Olympic Games Introduction

Olympic Games are the most famous and largest multi sports event of the world where more than two hundred nations take part. Olympic Games began long back in 776 BC and were originally held in Olympia in Greece. Christian Byzantine Emperor Theodosius I ordered a prohibition of the Ancient Summer Games in 393 AD as a objection against paganism. Olympic Games were re-energized by Pierre Fredy, Baron de Coubertin, a French nobleman in 1896 and from then the era of the Modern Olympic Games started. The growth and governance of the modern games are vested in the International Olympic Committee (IOC), founded in Paris in 1894.
